Proverbs 16:18 tells us, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
We must remember that the way up in God’s Kingdom is through humility. Being low is the only way to rise high. Too often, we lose ourselves in the pride of life yet there is no room for pride in a believer’s heart.
Pride stunts our growth. It feeds self indulgence and gives us a haughty spirit that God disapproves of. Instead, we must humble ourselves not just in words, but through action so that God receives the glory, and others may see the love of Christ through us.
When God positions us, we must recognize that it is His hand, His direction, and His purpose that places us where we are. It’s not of our own doing, but all of God. Staying focused on who we are in Him, and remembering where He has brought us from, keeps us free from the pride that leads to self sabotage and destruction.
When our eyes are on the world, we lose sight of Christ. The Bible reminds us that there is no good thing in the flesh, and as Ephesians teaches, we must crucify the flesh daily so that it has no place in our walk with Christ.
